Futuristic Future Projects

Over the past couple of weeks I've discovered two projects that I can't help but want to see combined. So naturally I've decided to write about it in order to figure out all of the items that will be required among other things.

"I think everybody should like everybody." -Andy Warhol

Today, at Shepherd University, there was a poster sale in one of the dining areas. I figured I would go and see what they had but I had no idea that they had hundreds of different posters so I was sure to find many that I liked so I limited myself to the first one that caused me to instantly grab for it. It was the Andy Warhol quote "I think everybody should like everybody." I had never heard of Andy Warhol or the quote before today but it instantly grabbed my attention so I bought it. As I was paying for it the good looking twenty something woman asked me a question that, at the time, I was completely unprepared for. "Do you think everybody should like everybody?" Emphasizing the "do you"  part. I gave the only answer I could muster, Yes, I do. She responded with a reasonable, "but don't you think there reaches a point where it's unreasonable?" I agreed but offered, "it's still something we should all strive for." With that, I left.

Why do I tell you this story? Well because it has been on my mind all day and I can't help but wonder what the correct side of this is best. One one hand if it's going to be one extreme or the other the one presented by this quote is easily best but I also consider that some people are bad and what is the correct application of this idea for those that have led lives undeserving of liking? 

My resolve is simple, each and every person has likable qualities and every person has unlikeable qualities, don't think that just because someone has qualities I don't like doesn't qualify them as unlikable and dismissable.

Whats that buzzing in my ear?

So it's been about a week since the launch of Google's newest social tool and the buzz has finally settled (see what I did there?) so where does Buzz stand and where does Google need to improve? Several places actually.

I found it very interesting that Google had declined to pull your entire Twitter/Facebook feed into the Buzz stream and this is because when I first read about Buzz it seemed like Google was simply providing a central location for all of your social networking. That would have been reasonable considering it would be pretty cool to check your email and social stream all on the same site and in the same stream. Google instead went with building a whole new social infrastructure for the whole world to embrace as apposed to the tired model of building a brand new website and starting from scratch every time. With the Google approach, they are creating more of an infrastructure not just a site. The best part? Google doesn't go down just because users decide to get chatty about something.

Kicking Ass And Borrowing Money

Got my financial aid package today! That means, in simple terms, THUNDERCATS ARE GOOOO!

The plan now? Well, pack. And party. And take in as much Colorado as I can! Can't freaking wait!

What I'm Reading/Playing/Listening to

Just a quick post today (and probably tomorrow) so I can focus on family but I would like to write a quick post today


From time to time I am going to update you on what keeps me busy here is what I have been reading/playing/listening to for the month of December.

Reading- "Under the Dome" by Stephen King
While have not made significant progress on the book, I am more that happy to name it the best novel I have read in quite some time. The progression and atmosphere of the book are perfect and I and makes me look forward to my next opportunity to read it.

Playing- "Assassins Creed 2"
I'll admit I didn't finish the first game but if the ending was anything like the second I'm going to force myself to play through the entire thing. I have currently invested over 20 hours in this game and I still have things to do.

Listening to- "Say Anything" by Say Anything
When "...Is a Real Boy" hit, they registered a blimp on my radar with "Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too" but I never expected them to return with an entire album that has done nothing short of blow me away. It's easy listening, it's rock out music and exactly what I look for.

The Art of the Commute Backpack

The public transit commuters backpack is really a great thing isn't it? Just think, with this backpack and it's various contents you are prepared for just about anything. If the train/plane/bus is delayed, you have the need for constant entertainment or you have the urge to start work on the way to work your set!

The contents of my own backpack include my laptop, power supply, wall charger for my phone, usb cable for my phone, calculator, lighter, mini flashlight, ridiculously long ethernet cable, usb headphones, beanie hat and gloves (it is winter in Colorado after all) to make me ready for any situation I can imagine I would get thrown into. Personally, when I combine my laptop, T mobile G1 (with wi-fi tethering) and a power outlet to create a mobile workstation I feel is the envy of any road warrior.
